Genetic stress:

Certain types of conditions seem to run in families. Some families have more heart disease, some increased chances of diabetes, etc. This is what is referred to as genetic predisposition. It does not mean that just because your parents both had heart conditions that you will. However, it does mean that you should be especially conscious of making healthier lifestyle choices. With a family history of heart disease, it is a good idea to eat a high fiber, low fat diet and to maintain a regular exercise program.

In chiropractic this refers to the tendency for certain spinal weaknesses to be more prominent in family members. Often children carry the same spinal patterns as their parents. With regular chiropractic care and a good exercise program, the problems associated with these spinal weaknesses can be lessened.

As Dr Reggie Gold said, “One of the most important things that you can do to have a long healthy life is to pick your grandparents carefully.” Since we can not pick who our grandparents were, it is important that we follow a good, balanced health program paying attention to the six essentials of life:

1. What we eat

2. What we think

3. How we exercise

4. How we rest

5. What we drink

6. What we breathe
